While Danny Jones has already joked he'll be happy to be Fletcher's best man at the nuptials, "That's awesome mate, many congratulations to you and Giovanna Falcone... No... don't, Ok yes I will be your best man! Yes."

Magnetic Stylus Sticks to Your iPad

The Maglus stylus will stick to your iPad via the magic of magnets

Got an iPad 2? Got a cool stylus? It sucks that you keep losing it, right? That you can never find the chunky little pen when you want to write or draw something on the screen? If only there was a stylus with a magnet that could stick to the iPad or the iPad?s Smart Cover. If only?

It turns out that there is. Or, hopefully, will be. The Maglus (Magentic Stylus ? get it?) comes from Applydea (Apply the Idea) and looks a lot like a rectangular version of the hexagonal AluPen. The Maglus has the usual conductive tip, a pen-like clip on the side and a magnet buried under its skin. This magnet is protected by a plastic cover, so you can stick it direct to the iPad without scratching, as well as to pretty much any part of the massively magnetic Smart Cover.

The Maglus will be made by industrial designers Andy Shaw and Noel Joyce, who are currently seeking funding on Fundit, which could be described as the Irish Kickstarter. They need ?15,000 to get started, and if you pledge ?15 (?22) then you?ll get one of the first units off the line. If you choose to wait and see, you?re looking at ?25 ($36) when the pen actually ships.

Sure, you don?t need a stylus to use the iPad, but if you choose to use one, its nice that you can actually find it when you want it.

When the Jersey Shore cast begins filming season 4 in Florence, Italy, next month, they better put a lid on their Ron-Ron Juice!

The city's mayor, Matteo Renzi, has drafted a series of rules for Snooki and Co. that must be followed while in town.

PHOTOS: Wildest Jersey Shore moments ever!

Chief among them? The cast cannot be filmed drinking in public or in bars/clubs that serve alcohol, reports Italian newspaper Corriere Della Sera (via The New York Post).

While MTV cameras roll, cast members are not to paint Florence as a drinking town and cannot tape in the city's historic public buildings.

Though they have yet to set foot on Italian soil, the MTV reality stars have already angered the people of Italy, where the show has just begun to air.

"They embody the worst stereotypes of Italians, multiplied by thousands and Americanized," writer Roberto Del Bove said of the cast in Rome's New Notzie newspaper in March.

Snooki, on the other hand, doesn't see what the big deal is.

"[Critics] don't understand that 'guidos' and 'guidettes' are good-looking people that, you know, like to make a scene and be center of attention and just take care of themselves," she has said. "They are old-fashioned. They don't know that; they think it's offensive, because maybe in their time it was offensive, but now it's kind of a compliment. So they don't understand that and that is what we are trying to say. They are way overreacting to the show. We're 22 to 29 just having fun?. They are just taking it way out of proportion."

The Italy-set episodes of Jersey Shore will air later this year.

Hugh Hefner-Crystal Harris Wedding: Uncoventional!

Hugh Hefner and Crystal Harris are not exactly your typical couple.

Their June wedding will reflect their unorthodox nature accordingly.

"The dress is not going to be white," Harris says. "I love pink! So, the dress will be pink and Hef and I want the wedding to be a lot of different colors."

At least they're on the same page, too. Plans are going smoothly!

Hugh and Crystal

"It's pretty great that we haven't argued about anything yet," the 24-year-old says. "Things that I feel strongly about, he's okay with, and things that he feels strongly about, I'm okay with doing things his way, so it works out."

The Playboy founder, 84, is in charge of the cake (strawberry) and music.

"Hef's friend Ray Anthony, he has a band," Harris says, "so we're going to have a big band and then we're going to have a deejay at the end of the evening."

Hefner's brother Keith, 82, will serve as his best man, with Hefner's two youngest sons, twins Marston and Cooper, 20, serving as groomsmen. Pretty cool.

What won't be involved? A prenup. Or Jordan McGraw, we're guessing.

Honk for iPhone [Video]

Parking perilous. There's always the problem of the meter: How much money did you feed it? And how much time did that give you? When was that, anyway? Then there's the less common but far more concerning question: Where the hell did I park to begin with? Don't panic. Honk knows all. More »

Red Hat's Ceylon a Java killer? Not likely

April 18, 2011

By Paul Krill | InfoWorld

It looks like another potential "successor" to Java is on the horizon, with a Red Hat software engineer working on a language called Ceylon, which purports to fix the problems of Java but still run on the Java Virtual Machine.

Although a third party has billed Ceylon as a "Java killer," it is more likely Ceylon will join a growing list of new languages resting atop the JVM, while the Java language and platform will continue on as staples of enterprise computing. Ceylon will vie with JVM languages such as JRuby, Scala, and Jython as a new choice for developers. Java also has survived amid competition from dynamic scripting languages such as JavaScript. A recent Forrester Research report cites Java and Microsoft's .Net as remaining the most popular development platforms at businesses. This is what Ceylon is up against.

Under development by Gavin King, a JBoss Fellow at Red Hat, Ceylon is intended leverage the successes of Java while correcting its supposed failures. In presentation slides found online, King describes the goals for his new language: It would run on the JVM and feature static typing, automatic memory management, and built-in modularity. It also would strive to be easy to learn.

Ceylon arose out of frustrations with Java, such as it "being joined at the hip to XML" -- which King said hurts developers -- and the absence of a good way to design a user interface in Java. A lack of language-level modularity and issues in Java meta-programming were also cited. Frustration with the Java SE (Standard Edition) SDK is a problem, as well; King says the SDK lacks modernization, is bloated, and makes basic tasks difficult to accomplish.

Hundreds Of Jobs Depend On Local Paper Mills' Fate

Factory output in the U.S. has gone up for the ninth straight month, but in many rural, one-industry towns, financial hardship continues. In the Northern Maine community of Millinocket, local leaders are racing the clock to reopen two paper mills before they shut down for good, are disassembled and sold for scrap. Hundreds of jobs and the already-fragile economies of two communities are at risk.
